Deirdre is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with many years of experience as a performer, educator and music education manager. Deirdre graduated with a degree in classical music performance from WRTC, and also has a HDipEd and MA in Music Technology. A former student of the year at the Kerry School of Music, Deirdre has a keen understanding of the importance of local, high-quality music education and performance opportunities for children and young people.
As well as her experience in popular and classical music bands, choirs and orchestras, Deirdre is a previous winner of Soundings, an international Electroacoustic composition competition, and music technology and innovation will form an important part of the strategy for Music Generation Kerry.
Deirdre has recently returned from the UK with 15 years of popular music education and education management experience at further and higher levels and she is keen to bring that experience and passion for music performance and technology to bear in creating outstanding music performance education opportunities for children and young people across County Kerry.
