Galway native Karen Dervan is a professional viola player, arranger and producer. A graduate of University College Cork (BA Hons in English and Music) and of University of Limerick (MA Hons in Classical Strings Performance), Karen has performed with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Wexford Festival Opera, Lyric Opera Orchestra, The Performance Corporation and myriad other festival, event and TV-format ensembles.

She has performed as a guest player with a wide variety of visiting national and international artists and was a member of the post-rock collective “3epkano” for a number of years, with whom she made several appearances in the Brooklyn Academy of Music, NYC and the National Gallery, Washington DC. Formerly a classical music columnist and critic with the Sunday Tribune, Karen’s writing has also been published by Irish Theatre Magazine and the Irish Times.

She has produced content for a number of arts festivals and venues, among them Clifden Arts Festival, Drogheda Arts Festival, Boyle Arts Festival, Limerick Literary Festival and the National Gallery of Ireland. Since January 2014 Karen has co-curated the hugely successful music series, “Kaleidoscope Night”, bringing the captivating multi-genre format on a nationwide tour in 2015.
