Music Generation Wicklow runs a variety of programmes and tuition including:

Foundation Programme for Primary Schools

Foundation Programme for Primary Schools

Providing primary school children from junior infants to 2nd class with tuition in musicianship, singing, percussion, recorder, tin whistle, music notation and ensemble playing.

Whole Class Music Tuition

Whole Class Music Tuition

Providing tuition to primary school children in a classroom setting from 2nd class onwards in instruments such as ukulele, violin, recorder, tin whistle and bodhrán.

Small Group Instrument Tuition

Small Group Instrument Tuition

Music tuition on a range of instruments and vocal style across different music genres for children and young people in small groups based both in and outside school contexts.

Wicklow Children’s Vocal Programme

Wicklow Children’s Vocal Programme

This programme provides a high quality music experience, delivered in a fun and accessible way, to enable children to become more confident at music reading, singing and performance. This programme is based in primary schools around the county.

The Sound Crowd Community Choir

The Sound Crowd Community Choir

This choir delivers vocal techniques, games, singing and performance skills in a community context. The Sound Crowd is currently based in Greystones and it is hoped that the programme will expand to other areas within the county.

Community-based hubs offering tuition, workshops and peer support for groups, bands and young musicians in tuition, songwriting, recording, production, traditional Irish music sessions and more.

Music Generation Wicklow supports the Rithim Traditional Orchestra in Bray and the Hollywood Traditional Band.

Ensembles

Ensembles

Programmes to encourage the creation of ensemble playing for young musicians, including programmes in violin, recorder, string and Jazz and assistance to new school orchestras and ensembles through shared musician expertise.

Samba Drumming Community Programme

Samba Drumming Community Programme

Regular drumming sessions facilitated by MaSamba in Greystones at Charlesland Community Centre. Young people aged 8 upwards are welcome.

Fun and energetic experiences in music with programmes including rock, traditional Irish and samba drumming summer camps.

Instrument bank

Instrument bank

Music Generation Wicklow has two public instrument banks in partnership with Wicklow County Library Services. These instrument banks are based in Blessington Library and Arklow Library. Music Generation Wicklow also has a range of instruments available for rent at a subsidised rate for children and young people.

Music Generation Wicklow is managed by Wicklow Music Education Partnership, led by Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board in partnership with Wicklow County Council.
