Music Generation Cork City: Current Programmes
Music Generation Cork City (MGCC) works in partnership with community based musicians and music organisations to bring music education into the lives of children and young people across Cork City. Using the Community Education process, programmes are being made available in the places where children live, play, and go to school, bringing opportunities for music-making into the heart of Cork’s communities. Music Generation Cork City programmes include:
Rock & Pop Programmes
In schools and youth and community settings, run in partnership with Ballyphehane Youth Project (Foroige), SoundOUT, Youth Work Ireland Cork, Music Mash Up and Cork Academy of Music.
Brass & Wind Programmes
Instrumental tuition and band programmes. In partnership with Barrack Street Band and Cork Academy of Music.
Rap, Vocal and Music Technologies
Rapping, song-writing and beat-making. In partnership with GMC Beats and Youth Work Ireland Cork.
Inclusive Music Programmes
Music-making for young people with and without disabilities, in schools and community settings. In partnership with SoundOUT and Music Mash Up.
In partnership with Music Mash Up (schools, community) and ARTlifeCULTURE (summer SING!).
Traditional Irish Music
In school and after school (Club Ceoil Knocknaheeny) trad music programmes In partnership with Creative Tradition.
Music in healthcare and outreach settings
Music-making in youthreach, youth probation and healthcare settings in partnership with Music in Community (MiC).
Cork Community Gamelan
Javanese gamelan workshops in schools and community settings. In partnership with UCC Department of Music.
