Children and young people across the Music Generation network are gearing up for a month of fun-filled, festive performances and workshops.
As part of the Wicklow Arts Festival Music Generation Wicklow's Schools' Concert takes place on Friday 24th May in the Grand Hotel in Wicklow Town. The event includes students who have taken part in Music Generation Wicklow's Engaging Primary Schools Programme. Children from a number of local Wicklow Schools will perform music that they have learned over the course of the last year and entry is free of charge.
On Sunday 26th May a Songwriting workshop will take place in the Grand Hotel in Wicklow Town hosted by singer/songwriter Luán Parle from 10am - 5pm. Suitable for ages 10 - 18 years (no experience necessary & beginners welcome) this workshop will focus on songwriting, production, performance, touring and the latest developments in the music industry. By the end of the workshop, the budding songwriters will have written, performed and recorded an original song collectively. A performnace will take place on Wicklow Arts Festival stage in the town centre. This is a unique opportunity for young people to get hands on experience of the day-to-day work in the music industry, whether they aspire to be performers, songwriters, producers or work in music administration.
