Limerick Loves Music panellists Angela Dorgan, Joe Clarke, Jenny Wren and Nessa McGann.
On Tuesday 6 February Music Generation Limerick City teamed up with First Music Contact to launch the very first edition of their collaborative venture ‘Limerick Loves Music’, formed in January 2018. The aim of the venture is to introduce new avenues of discussion for Limerick music makers and fans alike. Much like their ‘Cork Loves Music’ counterparts, ‘Limerick Loves Music’ is a forum for planning, listening, debating and talking about music.
First Music Contact is an Arts Council-funded national resource organisation for musicians, which runs the Irish Music Export Office, Music From Ireland (in association with Culture Ireland), the online music portal BreakingTunes and the annual music industry showcase, Hard Working Class Heroes.
The session included a panel discussion, ‘How Music Works,’ followed by a series of performances from some of Limerick’s most loved and up-and-coming musicians. Panellists on the night included First Music Contact CEO, Angela Dorgan, Joe Clarke of CWB Management, Jenny Wren, music booker for Body & Soul and Nessa McGann, programme director at Spin South West. Angela also held one-to-one consultancies during the day on 6 February. Performances on the night came from Synead Toomey, Cruiser and Steve from Windings.
