Music Generation is among a range of international music education programmes that will be featured at the third biennial Foundations for Excellence that takes place in Dartington Hall, Devon on Monday 25 to Tuesday 26 February.
Rosaleen Molloy, National Director of Music Generation together with Dr. Patricia Flynn, Lecturer in Music St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra, will present a paper entitled: “From the Ground Up: Creating A National Infrastructure for Performance Music Education in Ireland”.
The conference theme is “Nurturing and supporting talented young dancers and musicians” with special facilitated sessions looking at “Environments and Models”. Music Generation will provide an account of the work of the programme in designing and implementing a new national infrastructure for performance music education and considers some of the issues in developing its model: a music education that is locally designed and delivered within a national structure, funded through matched national and local funding.
