Young singers from Music Generation Offaly/Westmeath to perform on RTÉ's Culture Night Special

RTÉ’s Culture Night Special will feature thirty-three children, aged 7-12 years, from Music Generation Offaly/Westmeath’s Tullamore-based partner primary schools. They are joined by members of the Singfest Regional Choirs, and together with friends and family have created this unique, intergenerational choir for an exciting collaboration with the sensational Tolü Makay and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

In preparation for Friday’s live broadcast, the choir members attended a rehearsal at the RTÉ Radio Centre, where they were greeted by the show's producers and arranger Gavin Murphy. The young singers were thrilled to experience performing with a live orchestra after weeks of practising at home. It was with great excitement that the choir received a surprise visit during their studio session from award-winning singer Tolü Makay. The young singers were ecstatic to learn that Tolü attended the same Tullamore school as many of them and then performed the track together, which was a very special experience for everyone involved.

Watch the live broadcast from Bord na Móna’s Lough Boora Discovery Park on RTÉ 1 and RTÉ Player at 7pm on Culture Night! The show will feature a host of Ireland's finest artists including Martin Hayes, Ailbhe Reddy, Loah and Jack O'Rourke to name a few. Find out more here.
