Calling All Music Makers: Celebrate World Children’s Day 2024 through Music!
On World Children’s Day on November 20th we’re inviting young musicians to share their favourite musical moment from We are Music Generation 2024!
Music Generation Carlow is delighted to announce an exciting weekend of traditional Irish music in Borris, Co. Carlow from 27th-29th March 2015.
Music @ Mount Leinster is a traditional Irish music camp specifically for invited traditional Irish music groups from Carlow and elsewhere that aims to celebrate the art of existing and developing talent on the traditional Irish music scene.
On Friday 27th March the weekend will kick off with the arrival of renowned traditional Irish musicians such as Zoe Conway and John McIntyre, Damian Mullane, Jack Talty, Aimee Farrell Courtney, Conor Crimmins and Dave Power to Borris Vocational School where they will meet with the invited groups of young musicians.
The musicians will each deliver a series of masterclasses and workshops in Borris Vocational School on the Friday and indeed over the course of the weekend. The invited groups, which will include young musicians ranging in age from 12-18 years, will work one-to-one with the professional musicians allowing them to learn and share ideas in this special setting.
Throughout the three-day event there will also be two special concerts hosted by Music Generation Carlow featuring both the professional musicians and the young participants in the camp.
On Saturday 28th March at 8pm there will be an intimate evening of music in the Sacred Heart Church, Borris Co. Carlow as part of Music @ Mount Leinster.
The evening of traditional Irish music will feature acclaimed musicians such as Zoe Conway & John McIntyre (fiddle and guitar), Damian Mullane (button accordion), Jack Talty (concertina), Aimee Farrell Courtney (bodhran), Conor Crimmins (traditional flute), and Dave Power (uileann pipes).
The concert will showcase some of the best traditional musicians from Ireland, and the area of Borris is sure to serve as the perfect backdrop for this musical treat. Tickets for this event are FREE and you can receive more information by emailing pphelan@kcetb.ie or by phoning 059-9138532.
On Sunday 29th March at 4:30pm Borris House will play host to the FINALE concert of Music @ Mount Leinster featuring over 80 young people performing together in this unique setting. This afternoon of entertainment is open to the public and will demonstrate the talent of some of Ireland’s young developing traditional musicians. This is a concert not to be missed and one which is FREE to the public (numbers are limited).
The South of Carlow, and in particular the village of Borris, is fast becoming a popular location for artistry and creativity. Music Generation Carlow is delighted to be hosting its’ first ever traditional Irish music camp in such a beautiful location which already holds a vibrant traditional Irish music scene.
