The first phase of the consultation for a National Youth Strategy is underway. This initiative is led by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA).
This strategy is being developed arising from the “Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures, The National Policy Framework for Children and Young People” which was launched in April, 2014. This is the first overarching National Policy Framework which spans the ages 0-24. More information on the policy document can be found here.
The National Youth Strategy is being developed under this overarching National Policy Framework and its development will be overseen by a National Youth Strategy Task Group. A project team, led by the DCYA, is in place to develop the Strategy. The consultation seeks young people’s views on a range of issues, and provides an opportunity to highlight areas of interest and importance, including their participation in the arts.
The consultation is being undertaken in two phases: an online consultation aimed at 15-24 year olds followed by a series of face to face consultation events in Spring 2015. The online consultation will remain open until 23 January 2015. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and can be found here.
