Explore your creativity with Music Generation on Saturday 6th June 2026 for Cruinniú na nÓg!

Cruinniú na nÓg is Ireland’s national day of free creative activity for children and young people. From the Aran Islands to the east coast and everywhere in between, there is something for everyone this Cruinniú na nÓg.

Music Generation Galway County will host a day of music workshops and consultation sessions at Áras Éanna on Inis Oírr. Located on the smallest of the Aran Islands, Áras Éanna is Europe's most westerly Arts Centre. Children and young people on the island can help shape a new Music Hub opening in September. 

Further south, Music Generation Cork City brings Rock the Block to Carnegie Courtyard for an afternoon of rock, pop, trad and rap. On the east coast, young musicians and bands from Music Generation Fingal will take over Swords Castle for We Own The Castle. This free music festival features live performances, workshops and poetry sessions. Here are just some of the other events taking place across the Music Generation Network:

List of Local Music Generation Events

Get ready for a night of live music with Music Generation Carlow at The Exchange! Five local rock and pop bands from the Band Development Programme will take to the stage from 8:30pm. This one is not to be missed!

Explore the rich fiddle, uilleann pipes and button accordion traditions of North Monaghan with Music Generation Cavan / Monaghan. Through stories and archive recordings, young musicians will discover the sounds and spirit of the McKenna family's musical heritage. Participants won't just learn the repertoire - they'll reimagining it and have the opportunity to respond creatively to the stories behind the music.

Music Generation Clare will host an evening of DJ and beat making workshops. Young people can experiment with music technology and create music together. The evening will finish with a live performance.

Rock the Block takes over Carnegie Courtyard for Cruinniú na nÓg! Enjoy a full day of rock, pop, trad and rap, with a very special live performance of his debut EP from TINY of The Kabin Studio.

Music Production and DJ Workshop

  • Time: 12pm - 2pm
  • Location: Loughlinstown Community Rooms
  • Age Group: 13 – 18 year olds 

Explore DJing and electronic music production with Music Generation dlr for Cruinniú na nÓg 2026. The session will finish with performances from local young musicians across a range of genres including folk, hip hop and rock. 

 

Youth Silent Disco 

  • Time: 6pm - 8pm
  • Location: Myrtle Square, Dún Laoghaire
  • Age Group: 14 – 18 year olds 

Music Generation dlr will host a silent disco for young people aged 14 – 18 on the evening of Cruinniú na nÓg.

We Own The Castle is a free music festival hosted by Garageland Galaxyz for young people aged 12–19. Enjoy live performances on two stages, music industry workshops, and poetry and unplugged music in the Chapel Sessions. Hear bands and young musicians from Music Generation Fingal perform throughout the day.

Music Generation Galway City will bring Youth Lates back to Fr Burke Park for Cruinniú na nÓg! From 12pm to 4pm, families can enjoy art, crafts, circus, storytelling and live music.  

From 4pm, the park comes alive with Youth Lates - a high-energy live music event for young people aged 14-18. The headliner is rising Cork band BABYRAT along with local musicians and bands. It’s until 9:30pm. Booking may be required for some workshops.

Music Generation Galway County will host a music event for children and young people with additional needs on Saturday, June 6th for Cruinniú na nÓg. The event aims to support young people from across Galway County to engage with creativity in a fun, accessible, and fully inclusive environment. 

Participants can take part in hands-on musical workshops, perform, try out new instruments, and enjoy a range of creative activities. 

  • Time: 10am - 1pm & 2pm - 5pm  
  • Location: LimeLight Creative Arts Centre, Oranmore 

Careful attention will be given to sensory needs throughout the day, and the venue is fully accessible, including lift access, to ensure a comfortable and supportive experience for all participants. This is a free event, registration in advance is required.

Music Generation Galway County is coming to Inis Oírr for Cruinniú na nÓg! They will host workshops and music consultation sessions at Áras Éanna, Europe's most westerly Arts Centre, on the smallest of the Aran Islands.

A new Music Hub is opening on Inis Oírr in September and this is your chance to shape it. Music Generation Galway County want to hear from children on the island about what music they would love to learn. From instruments and genres to songwriting, performance and new musical experiences – they want to hear all your ideas! Bring your own instrument or try one out for the first time.

Sound & Vision is a fun, creative workshop with Music Generation Kilkenny and guest visual artist Paul Mahon. Young people will explore how music and visuals work together to create their own short audiovisual piece using digital tools.

  • Location: MacDonagh Junction, Kilkenny.
  • Age Group: 13 – 18 year olds

Laois Le Cheile is a day of creative workshops and performances for families and the whole community. See performances from Bells Ukrainian Children’s Choir and country music band the 'Bass Brothers'. Take part in the Open Mic, Ceilí Mór or a craft workshop!

Make Some Noise! Kids Music session!

Join Music Generation Limerick County for an interactive 2 hour music workshop for 7 – 14 year olds. They will explore ukulele, singing, songwriting and experiment with music technology. This workshop is open to all abilities with no music experience needed. See more here.  

 

The Sound Project

This digital music workshop for 14 – 18 year olds will explore sounds of everyday life to make music. Book your free spot here.  

Garageland Galaxyz will host a day-long music and arts festival for young people aged 12 – 19 years. Expect live performances, workshops and creative collaborations. Hear bands and young musicians from Music Generation Meath perform throughout the day.

Live Music Showcase

Young musicians from Music Generation Sligo’s music Hubs will perform live on the Marquee Stage for Cruinniú na nÓg. Come along and hear Sligo’s emerging musicians, band and ensembles.

Music Workshops with Music Generation Sligo.  

Young musicians will take part in a series of workshops in the run up to Cruinniú na nÓg. They will compose and perform new music on June 6th.

Hear young musicians from Mullingar Music Jam perform in collaboration with Athlone Youth Orchestra. The event is hosted in partnership with Garageland Galaxyz. Expect solo acts, small bands, and ensembles across genres from blues to rock.

Music Generation Westmeath will facilitate three interactive music sessions for babies, toddlers and their adult in Mullingar Library.  

 

Try an Instrument Sessions

  • Age Group: 6 - 18 year olds 

Come along and try a new musical instrument at Mullingar Library. Musician Educators from Music Generation Westmeath will be there to introduce you to violin, cello or uilleann pipes.
