Donegal Music Education Partnership is offering a number of full and half scholarships on specified instruments for its 2013 – 2014 academic year. These will be awarded at the discretion of the DMEP, following an audition.
FULL SCHOLARSHIPS
Viola
Eligible age group 8 – 14 yr olds; Tuition Centre: Donegal Town (Tue) or Letterkenny (Wed)
Bassoon
Eligible age group 10 – 13 yr olds; Tuition Centre: Ballyshannon (Mon)
Oboe
Eligible age group 8 – 12 yr olds; Tuition Centre: Donegal Town (Thurs)
French Horn
Eligible age group 8 – 12 yr olds; Tuition Centre: TBC
HALF SCHOLARSHIPS
Cello
Eligible age group 8 – 12 yr olds; Tuition Centre: Letterkenny (Sat)
Clarinet
Eligible age group 8 – 12 yr olds; Tuition Centre: Letterkenny (Tues) or Donegal Town (Thurs)
Orchestral Percussion
Eligible age group 8 – 14 yr olds; Tuition Centre: Letterkenny (Mon)
Trombone
Eligible age group 10 – 12 yr olds; Tuition Centre: Letterkenny (Thurs) or Ballyshannon (Thurs)
Auditions will be held on Sunday 6 October in the
Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny, at 2PM.
Audition Requirements
• Application form to be completed in advance. Contact the office for details.
• During the audition, the instrument will be demonstrated to you by the relevant tutor and you will then be given the opportunity to try it yourself.
Terms:
1. In the case of FULL SCHOLARSHIPS, your tuition fees will be fully paid for a maximum 2 year period.
2. You will also be given the instrument on loan, free of charge.
3. In the case of HALF SCHOLARSHIPS, 50% of your tuition fees will be paid for a maximum 2 year period.
4. You will also be given the instrument on loan, free of charge.
Conditions:
1. The successful scholarship recipient must commit to attend the weekly class (excluding usual school holidays).
2. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to bring the student to the tuition centre.
3. Students are expected to practice regularly and sufficiently.
4. You must also commit to taking due and proper care of the instrument.
5. You will be expected to participate in orchestral, ensemble and workshop activities and to avail of other performance opportunities offered by DMEP.
6. Scholarships will be reviewed on an annual basis.
