Music Generation Celebrates St Patrick's Festival Weekend
Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona dhaoibh! Celebrate St. Patrick's Festival weekend with Music Generation.
The date for this year’s Irish national music day, love:live music, has been announced as Thursday, 21 June to coincide with the International Music Day/Fête de la Musique, which is celebrated worldwide. The event, which is run by Music Network and is now in its third year, was launched by three musicians, Cora Venus Lunny, Seán MacErlaine and Francesco Turrisi in Dublin recently.
The day is expected to feature a large number of musical performances across the whole country - last year’s love:live music saw over 160 individual events take place across twenty-four counties.
Jody Ackland, Project Manager for the event, said, ‘Ireland is known throughout the world for its incredible musicians and unrivalled musical talent and we want to celebrate this at home and encourage everyone to enjoy Irish music at love:live music. We hope that musicians, groups and organisations around the country will join in love:live music 2012 to bring the exhilarating experience of live Irish music to people throughout the country and make it a day to remember.’
Anyone can register an event as part of love:live music for free. For more information visit the dedicated website at lovelivemusic.ie
