Cork Academy of Music Knocknaheeny Youth Music Initiative, an Evaluation

The “Cork Academy of Music Knocknaheeny Youth Music Initiative. An evaluation”
report was launched on the 20th of December 2012 at the Cork Academy of Music.
The publication was led and supported by the Social Inclusion Unit of Cork City
Council and carried out by Yooco Enterprises Ltd.
The Cork Academy of Music Knocknaheeny Youth Music Initiative was an innovative
programme that used music education as a vehicle to engage young people aged 18
– 24 years from the Northside of Cork City.
The programme aimed to train young people in practical and theoretical music skills
and to provide support to participants and increase potential to access further
education or enter the labour market. The findings of the evaluation demonstrate that
the Knocknaheeny Youth Music Initiative was successful in encouraging pathways
for young people back into education, further training and employment.
