
Geantraí – An Ghlúin Úr
On Sunday, March 16th 21:30, TG4 will premiere Geantraí- An Ghlúin Úr. Filmed during Galway Tradfest, featuring over 200 young musicians
The Academy of Popular Music is holding a unique musical education event and experience on Saturday 8th March at 3pm in the Curtis Auditorium, CIT Cork School of Music, Union Quay, Cork.
Minister of State for Training and Skills in the Department of Education and Skills, Ciarán Cannon, TD will officially open this unique Music Education event.
World renowned expert in musical education, Professor Susan Hallam, Institute of Education, London will speak about the merits of popular music education and group learning. Professor Hallam specialises in disaffection from school (behaviour, attendance, exclusion), learning and understanding (studying, homework, practising, the role of feedback), ability grouping, music psychology and music education.
David Hayes, Musical Director of The Voice of Ireland and Riverdance will discuss the role of music technology and the way forward.
One of the Heads of Department in the CIT Cork School of Music, John O'Connor will speak about the importance of popular music education and the CIT Cork School of Music Level 8 degree course in popular music.
There will also be short performances by The Academy of Popular Music Junior and Senior Bands.
