Young Ambassadors celebrate a decade of Music Generation at The Ireland Funds Worldwide Conference 2022 with Sharon Shannon and Adam Clayton.
Next weekend the Donegal Chamber Music Society with support from Donegal Music Education Partnership, the Regional Cultural Centre and Donegal County Council will present the 5th Annual CELLO MEETING Ireland with renowned Romanian/Irish cellist Mihai Dancila as Artistic Director.
This national gathering of cellists started in 2009 and has become an annual focal event, in which cello players of all levels from all around the country gather together in Donegal each June. The playing standard of the participants has increased each year attracting young players from Cork, Tipperary, Dublin, Ballymena, Ballyshannon and Letterkenny to attend the Master Classes and to perform at the two weekend concerts.
The Cello weekend, between 27 and 30 of June, is based at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, bringing to the town a variety of musical events. CELLO MEETING Ireland in its 5th edition will feature Master Classes in Cello, Chamber Music and Cello Ensemble while also providing performance opportunities through participation in the Concerts. The first concert will be held on Saturday 29th June at 1pm in the Regional Cultural Centre featuring the junior cellists and cello ensemble with the final closing concert on Sunday 30th June at 6pm in Conwal Church.
The Donegal Chamber Orchestra are participating once again this year, and will be performing at the closing concert on Sunday, with a programme of music by Mozart, Mascagni, Delius and Hindemith. Three selected participants of Cello Ireland will also have the opportunity to play as soloists with the chamber orchestra in one of Vivaldi´s Cello Concertos.
