Music Generation Offaly have launched Clara Bog Soundwalk!
Young musicians from Ard Scoil Chiarán Naofa in Clara collaborated with composer Fiona Linnane. They create a unique geo-located soundwalk for the Clara Bog Boardwalk.
Over two months, the students explored the bog’s rich wildlife and natural landscape. This inspired them to compose a series of short musical pieces and poems (haikus).
These creative works have now been transformed into a geo-located sound map. Visitors can take part by scanning a QR code at the entrance. As they walk, they can listen to the young musicians poetry and music at different points on the trail.
"Fiona helped us learn how music works and nature. It was a great opportunity." - Young Musician, Music Generation Offaly
The Launch event took place in Clara Library on the 27th of February 2026. It included a short conversation with Fiona and the young musicians. They shared what it was like creating a new resource that the whole community can enjoy. Read more about the launch event here.
