During November, members of the Music Generation Laois singing programme represented Music Generation as Young Ambassadors at the Ombudsman for Children's Office 'Child Talks' event, marking World Children's Day 2020.

Singers from the Music Generation Laois Early Years and Singing Programmes joined the Ombudsman for Children Dr Niall Muldoon to mark World Children's Day at a virtual 'Child Talks 2020'.

Child Talks, an initiative of the Ombudsman for Children's Office, creates a platform for children and young people to talk about the issues and rights that are important to them.

Alongside a cast of extraordinary young speakers and advocates, the young singers from Music Generation Laois provided a musical treat with their rendition of 'I Wan'na Be Like You':

Children and young people from eight different national schools were involved in the recording, supported by their teachers, musician educators Nuala Kelly and Sarah Troy, and the Music Generation Laois Band.

This was the third year of Child Talks, a Ted Talks-style event usually held in front of a live audience. Last year, five young rappers from Music Generation Cork City raised the roof at Dublin Castle with their performances opening and closing the show.

This year's event, co-hosted by past speakers Katie McKenna (19) and Eric Ehigie (19) focused on the theme ‘A day in my life.’
