Music Generation Celebrates St Patrick's Festival Weekend
Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona dhaoibh! Celebrate St. Patrick's Festival weekend with Music Generation.
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is a major milestone in the annual music calendar worldwide, and this year Music Generation was all geared up to join the celebrations as Fleadh 2020 moved home to Mullingar.
Like most concerts and live events the Fleadh couldn't take place as planned this year, but even Covid-19 couldn't stop the music.
Thanks to the hard work and imagination of the teams at Fleadh Cheoil and TG4, young musicians and professionals from across Ireland and overseas had the chance to experience four phenomenal evenings of performance on television and online.
On Thursday 6 August Music Generation Development Officers Aidan Ó Domhnaill (Tipperary) and Alan Ó Coisdealbha (Kildare) joined a seisiún with Áine Uí Domhnaill, Aisling Ní Coisdealbha and Kevin Brehony.
Music Generation Laois musician educator Denise Boyle performed as part of the fiddle supergroup, Sí Fiddlers on the third night of the series.
And on the final day of broadcasts, Music Generation Carlow senior trad ensemble, Reelig came together in person again to perform Farewell to Chernobyl / Bear Island.
We couldn't be more proud of all of the young musicians who watched, listened and played their part in Fleadh 2020, either from Mullingar or in their homes. Lean leis an gCeol!
