Calling all young traditional players in Waterford! An opportunity has arisen to join the Music Generation Waterford Traditional Ensembles.

Music Generation Waterford is looking for dedicated young traditional musicians who are of an intermediate/advanced level with at least 3 years’ experience to join its Traditional Ensembles. The 2020 season will present new performance and workshop opportunities for ensemble members including collaborations with other Music Generation areas and scheduled performances with international visiting groups.

Established in January 2019 under the directorship of Nóra Byrne Kavanagh, Eoin O’Meachair and Anthony Roche, Music Generation Waterford Traditional Ensembles have collaborated with many well-known musicians including Benny McCarthy (button accordion), Caoimhín Ó Fearghail (flute), Conor Arkins (fiddle) and Siobhán Buckley (harp). In May 2019 the Music Generation Waterford Senior Ensemble collaborated with Donegal Accordionist Martin Tourish to create a new 30 minute suite called ‘The Colour of Warmth’ funded through Music Generation/Arts Council partnership and premiered at the Creative Connexions Festival in Sitges, Catalonia. Intermediate and Senior Ensemble players have also attended the Tiónol Festival hosted by Music Generation Laois and have collaborated with Traditional Ensembles from Music Generation Carlow.
