MG Sligo Brass Ensemble page 001
Music Generation Sligo commenced delivery this week to the eighteen applicants – schools and music organisations - awarded over €25,000 under the 50/50 Instrument Bank Fund 2014. This round of funding will benefit up to 2,000 young people in Sligo, together with the 3,500 young people who benefitted in 2013/2014.

The successful new scheme introduced by Music Generation Sligo in 2013, with the support of Music Generation national and local partners, will grant-aid 50% of the cost of local instrument banks, purchasing musical instruments worth €50,000 in total.

Purchases include brass instruments, digital pianos, keyboards, harps, recorders, guitars, violins, concertinas, accordions, drums, percussion and more… generating more music for a new generation of musicians. Recipients were delighted to receive delivery of the musical instruments at the start of the new term which will inspire children to become involved in music, encourage music activities outside music classes and provide young people with the opportunity to learn costly instruments which they would otherwise not have the opportunity to play.
