A ‘Fleadh Mob’ in Drogheda to mark Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018
In the weeks leading up to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018, Nós Nua - Louth Youth Folk Orchestra, a partnership programme between Music Generation Louth and the Oriel Centre, Dundalk (Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Regional Centre), performed a 'Fleadh Mob' to unsuspecting audiences on the steps of St. Peter's Church, Drogheda.
The piece they performed, "Gort na Glaise" was composed by Dónal Ó Connor, commissioned by Louth County Council as part of the Per Cent for Art Scheme, to mark the opening of Phase III of the Gort na Glaise Housing Development, in Blackrock Co. Louth (part of Taisce Lú, Create Louth Collection). The arrangement was by Dónal O' Connor, Conal Duffy and Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla.
Choreography was by Dearbhla Lennon and Aidan McLoughlin (Lennon-Mc Loughlin School of Irish Dance), Scoil Rince Cosceol, Scoil-Rince Mona Ni Rodaigh and Carol Leavy.
The Nós Nua Team are Conal Duffy, Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla, Kay Webster-Dooley and Gemma Murray.
