Westmeath County Council has issued a tender for the purchase of 550 musical instruments for a Music Generation Offaly/Westmeath (MGOW) instrument bank project.
Through The ‘Play an Instrument Outreach’ Programme, MGOW aims to help children and young people access instrumental tuition in their own locality. Tuition will be locally provided by musicians and the programme will contribute to the development of a regional tuition service.
Among the required instruments are 124 violins, 24 cellos, 4 double basses, 30 flutes, 30 clarinets, 25 saxophones, 20 trumpets, 60 keyboards, 190 guitars, 8 drum-kits, 10 pianos, 60 music stands and 50 sets of drumsticks.
The deadline for tenders is Monday 20th January 2014.
