Music Generation Carlow is delighted to officially announce the launch of its’ Traditional Irish Music programme with an exciting afternoon of free sample tuition and group performance opportunities for young Carlow musicians, aged 8-18 years.
The launch takes place on Saturday 30th November from 3-6pm in Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal NS Carlow and gives young people a taste of what’s on offer with Music Generation Carlow’s Traditional Irish Music programme.
The event will involve a workshop/tuition session where young people can avail of the opportunity to participate in a ‘sample’ class with Music Generation Carlow’s experienced musicians. Over the course of the afternoon the young people will learn a tune with their respective musicians and will come together at the end of the day for a large group performance of the chosen tune.
This event is free to participants however all young people must confirm their participation by email or through the Music Generation Carlow Facebook page by giving their name, instrument and level of musicianship.
All levels of musicianship, from beginners to advanced, will be catered for on the day. At the end of the launch day, participants will be invited to sign up for weekly lessons, monthly sessions and termly traditional orchestra events, (there will be a small charge for weekly lessons thereafter).
The launch of Music Generation Carlow’s Traditional Irish Music programme is an exciting opportunity for the youth of Carlow to avail of quality tuition and to experience group performing. It is hoped that this programme will grow over time and allow young people the chance to develop their traditional Irish Music skills in a friendly, relaxed and full-filled atmosphere.
