Trad goes on tour this March as young musicians from Music Generation Carlow and Cork City tune up for a very special, joint Trad Orchestra Performance in UCC’s Aula Maxima.

This event will be part of the inaugural Music Generation Trad Orchestra Weekend – a jam-packed programme of workshops, rehearsals and performance presented in collaboration between Music Generation Cork City, Creative Tradition (Club Ceoil Knocknaheeny), Music Generation Carlow, Fuaim: Music and Community, University College Cork (UCC) and St. Mary’s on the Hill National School.

This exciting new initiative will give more than 70 traditional Irish musicians and dancers a valuable opportunity to share their practice and performance with players from other areas of Ireland. The weekend will culminate in a free, public concert at 3pm on Sunday, 6 March in the Aula Maxima, UCC. The audience at the concert will be treated to a varied and lively programme played on whistles, pipes, flutes, fiddles, concertina, button accordion, banjo among other instruments.

The Music Generation Trad Weekend @ UCC is just one activity in a year-round programme of traditional music offered through both Music Generation Carlow and Music Generation Cork City.
