Messin' With The Music, the fourth of Music Generation Mayo's Music Residency programmes this year, runs from Oct 14th-17th inclusive in St Joseph's Post Primary School in Charlestown and the 30 participants will be performing original compositions on Thursday Oct 17th in the evening - time to be confirmed.
What is this Music Residency programme about?
Messin' With The Music is a series of creative music making workshops aimed at young people.
Participants will spend time getting to know each other with a chance to ‘jam’ together whilst developing theoretical skills involved with musical creativity. Participants will then be split into ensembles with the facilitators as mentors building upon all objectives throughout the week. This will culminate in each band having an original piece of music prepared that they will either perform live to an audience and/or record for the grand finale of the programme.
Throughout the week participants will learn the fundamentals of composition, songwriting, music theory, performance, rhythm, improvisation and musicianship in a fun and relaxed environment.
