Making music with classroom teachers

Laois classroom teachers
Music Generation Laois has recently hosted a social event at which they aimed to explore the benefits which their programmes can bring to classroom teachers. With no requirement of prior music experience, Music Generation Laois tutors ran an informal workshop, based on their highly successful Drumming and Singing/Choral programmes, led by drumming tutor Eddie O Neill, and choral tutors Marian Gaynor and Nuala Kelly.

Positive feedback was received at the end of the session and as a result, Music Generation Laois is exploring the possibility of planning classroom teacher workshops in the future, which would help to enhance the work of their tutors and encourage teacher feedback around the type of music training that they would benefit from.

The event was also open to teachers whose pupils are not directly involved in the Music Generation Laois programme. Teachers, Principals and Special Needs Assistants were all welcome to attend.

Music Generation looks forward to further collaboration and positive developments between music tutors and classroom teachers involved in Music Generation programmes.
