Ballymote 2ndclassmusicians
A number of 'Live Music in the Classroom' musician ensembles (traditional, jazz and classical) will visit schools taking part in the Discovering & Performing Music Programme during March and April.

Pictured above are 2nd class children at Scoil Mhuire gan Smal, Ballymote, Co Sligo who are taking part in Music Generation Sligo's Discovering & Performing Music Programme. Traditional musicians Fiona Doherty (fiddle, banjo), Seamus O Donnell (concert flute, trad saxophone) and Junior Davey (bodhran, bones) visited the schools for a concert workshop where the musicians explained their instruments and performed jigs, reels & waltzes, and the children performed 'Manhattan Blues' on the violin.

Music Generation Sligo will be circulating application forms for the 2014/2015 Discovering & Performing Music Programme to primary and post primary schools.
