A new music festival celebrating inclusivity and creativity is announced for Limerick City

Music Generation Limerick City has announced a new music festival for young performers which will take place from 24 November to 3 December as part of the Creative Ireland Programme to ‘enable the creativity of every child’.

Initiated by Music Generation Limerick City in association with the Limerick School of Music, ‘Musicale’ has developed in partnership with Croagh School of Music, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Musica Fusion and music teachers across the city.

At its core, Musicale seeks to celebrate children and young people’s creativity in music-making and is distinct in that it is entirely non-competitive. There will be no adjudicator, no grading, no marks, no winners and no losers.

Instead, each concert will be hosted by a professional musician who will give a short speech of appreciation at the end of the event. They will hone in on what made the performances special for them, as well as offering advice to the musicians as they go forward on their journey.

Festival organiser Boris Hunka (Music Development Officer, Music Generation Limerick City), explained the significance of this new initiative: ‘it is really exciting to bring all these young musicians together in an environment where they will not be graded, ranked or judged. The result will be a truly inclusive festival of music-making.’
