The Sligo International Chamber Music Festival takes place from Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May in Drumcliffe Church and The Model, Sligo. Formerly Music at Drumcliffe, this reimagined festival for all ages has become one of Ireland’s leading international chamber music festivals and is now a highlight in the annual calendar of music events. The diverse progamme features a host of world-class performers including musicians-in-residence the Vogler Quartet, RTÉ Contempo Quartet, Crash Quartet, Caiman Gilmore of the Sun Collective and many more.

Tuned In! is an exciting youth strand of the Festival, curated by Aoife Ní Bhriain for student string quartets. Combining masterclasses and performances – including work with Aoife Ní Bhriain and Tim Vogler – this intensive chamber music experience will encourage participants to deepen their understanding of music and improve their playing within the nurturing environment of the Festival. Students and tutors will have the opportunity to work with the Vogler Quartet and to learn, network and attend Tuned In! Festival concerts with fellow students and tutors. Tuned In! has been developed by Music Generation Sligo together with Sligo County Council Arts Office.

On Friday evening the Festival will host a Tuned In! Concert, specially-curated for young people, with a line up including members of Crash Ensemble, Caiman Gilmore, Cora Venus Lunny, Aoife Ní Bhriain, Lisa Dowdall, Kate Ellis and Festival Ensemble-in-Residence, the Vogler Quartet. Tickets for the Tuned In! Concert (priced €10, or €5 for under 18s as part of Music Generation Sligo’s Go See ticketing initiative) are now on sale online.

The Festival will also include a Music Education Network Event on Friday 29 April at The Model, Sligo, where a panel will discuss roles and opportunities for music tutors and students in Ireland today. The panel will include Eve O’Kelly (Music Generation), Prof. James Cavanagh (RIAM Acting Head of Performing Groups), Rhona McGrath (Music Generation Sligo) and Niamh Crowley (Director, Sligo Academy of Music).

Sligo International Chamber Music Festival is produced by Sligo County Council Arts Office and Music Generation Sligo. Funded by Sligo County Council, the Arts Council of Ireland and Music Generation Sligo and managed by Artscope. Tickets for all events are now on sale and can be purchased online at www.sligochambermusic.ie or by calling Hawk’s Well Theatre Box Office on +353 71 916 1518.
