Music Generation Sligo runs a variety of programmes and tuition including:

Discovering Music, Early Years

Discovering Music, Early Years

An introductory access programme to provide young children with an introduction to the world of music in childcare, and primary school/junior class settings.

Discovering & Performing Music, Primary and Post Primary Level

Discovering & Performing Music, Primary and Post Primary Level

Whole-class instrumental and vocal tuition programme for primary schools from 3rd - 6th class, introducing children and young people to reading and performing music. Post-primary schools have the option to explore other modules such as songwriting, recording and music technology.

Tuition Centres

Tuition Centres

A range of vocal, instrumental and performance ensembles around Sligo County (Grange, Easkey, Ballymote and Gurteen) with tuition available in guitar, keyboard, drums, vocals, harp, cello and Uilleann pipes. A teenage band programme is available in partnership with Rumble Rehearsal Studios in Sligo Town. A brass programme takes place in partnership with Sligo Academy of Music. Tuition in harp will be available from September 2018.

The Tuned In Youth Programme is a new short intensive chamber music experience curated by Music Generation Sligo for students and their tutors, combining masterclasses and performances as part of the annual Sligo International Chamber Music Festival.

Sligo Youth Voices

Sligo Youth Voices

A choral programme in partnership with Hawk’s Well Theatre Sligo. Sligo Youth Voices gives young people the opportunity to develop their skills in choral singing and reading music, through exposure to a range of musical styles and experiences. Roisin Egan is Choir Director.

Supporting young people and the music sector by encouraging attendance at music events. Half-price tickets for under 18s to selected music performances throughout County Sligo.

Music Generation Sligo is managed and funded locally by Sligo Music Education Partnership, led by Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB in partnership with Sligo County Council, Sligo Education Centre, Sligo County Childcare Committee, Cranmore Regeneration and the local music sector.
