30 young award-winning Louth Musicians invited perform at Dublin Castle

30 young musicians from the Music Generation Louth String Orchestra programme were invited as to perform at the official national launch of the Arts in Education Portal in Dublin Castle today.

The Music Generation Louth String Orchestra programme started in 2012 under the leadership of local professional musician and hugely experienced teacher Jayne Graham. In only three years, it has expanded to cater for three levels of young players –Senior Strings, Junior Strings and First Strings and they have won first place at the Newry Feis Ceoil as well as performing for President Michael D. Higgins at the Music Generation Gala concert last October.

Music Generation Louth is a music education service for children and young people that provides a range of opportunities throughout the county for children and young people aged 0 -18 years to learn music.

The service is currently accessed by over 3,000 children and young people annually in county Louth who participate in a range of programmes including: Vocal and instrumental lessons at regional tuition centres in Drogheda, Dundalk, Ardee, Dunleerand Cooley; Music Matters early years musicianship programme for preschools and primary schools; primary school access programmes including Let's Sing (choral)
programme, Blown Away (recorder) and Introducing Strings (classical strings); ensembles
including brass band, guitar, harp, choir and string orchestras.

Music Generation Louth is managed by Louth Music Education Partnership, a sub committee of the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board. Create Louth and the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board provide local partnership income and support in kind.
