Programmes, courses and hubs reopen for a brand new term at Music Generation

Calling all aspiring band members in Carlow! Music Generation has launched a new songwriting workshop for young musicians ages 13 – 18. Members will work with skilled professionals to write songs, produce and perform, with sessions held monthly from 25 September. Applications are being accepted now until 22 September by email to amclaughlin@kcetb.ie.

In Clare applications are now open for the newly formed Rock and Pop Orchestra and the Music Generation Clare Trazz Experience! The deadline for expressions of interest is coming up this Friday 16 September so don’t delay – read more about how to get involved here.

Music Generation Louth is accepting applications for its junior and senior string orchestra programmes. Under the direction of local musician Jayne Graham, rehearsals run each Saturday morning during school term time. No audition is necessary for this fantastic programme which gives young players a chance to develop their musical skills, make new friends and have great fun! Read more about how to get involved.

After a phenomenally successful first year, Singfest returns to Music Generation Offaly/Westmeath, offering young singers ages 8 to 19 the chance to participate in a fun, inclusive and choral programme from October 2016 to June 2017. No experience is necessary – just a love of singing and commitment to taking part. Apply by 23 September online.

The Music Generation Limerick City team, featuring many of Limerick’s most celebrated musicians, have developed a celebrated programme that allows teenagers to develop skills in self-expression and creativity. Limerick Voices welcomes new members for free, after-school and Saturday sessions where workshops are offered in song-writing, rap, singing, guitar, bass, ukulele, keys, drums, recording and performance at all levels of experience. In search of inspiration? Listen to some of the recent recordings by participants in the programme, and then get involved by applying online.

After-school classes commence this week at Music Generation Sligo, with a limited number of places still available in Easkey (guitar, keyboard and vocals); Gurteen (cello and guitar); Ballymote (guitar and vocals); and Grange (vocals). Registration days will be held in Rathcoole (21st September) and Collinstown (29th September) for after-school group lessons in guitar, singing, piano, violin and concertina with Music Generation South Dublin.
