A unique opportunity for young chamber musicians in Sligo: Tuned In! 2019

On Friday evening, 3 May, young chamber musicians and ensembles from four different Music Generation partnerships in Offaly/Westmeath, Carlow, Laois and Sligo will gather at Yeats’ Hotel, Rosses Point to register for the fourth annual Tuned In! chamber music residency. Together with tutors from their local areas, these young people will spend the next three days building their ensemble-playing skills and attending performances by world class musicians as part of the Sligo International Chamber Music Festival. Now in its fourth year, the busy 2019 Tuned In! timetable, curated by Professor James Cavanagh (RIAM), includes masterclasses with the Grieg Trio and the Vogler Quartet in addition to sectionals and large ensemble rehearsals, leading up to a finale performance at The Model, Sligo on Sunday afternoon, 5 May.

Tickets for the concert are currently on sale from sligochambermusic.ie, by phone (071 916 1518) or directly at the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Temple Street, Sligo.

Co-funded by the Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership, Tuned In! creates a unique opportunity for young musicians ages 13+ to develop their skills in the classical genre and to engage with high level artists in an immersive and nurturing festival environment.

This twentieth edition of the Sligo International Chamber Music Festival will take place in Drumcliffe Church and The Model, Sligo from 3 to 6 May, featuring performances by artists including the Grieg Trio, Eugène Mursky (piano), Sharon Carty (mezzo-soprano), Nick Roth (composer, saxophone, producer), David Orlowsky (clarinet), Vashti Hunter (cello), among many others. The event, produced by Sligo County Council Arts Office and funded by Sligo County Council and the Arts Council, is programmed by the Vogler Quartet.
