Five brand new music videos released by Carlow Young Creatives!

30 aspiring young musicians and singers are mid-way through an incredibly creative, inspiring band development programme in Carlow, funded through the Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership.

In just nine days, the participants have formed five bands – each of whom has written, recorded and produced their very own music video – and are now preparing to perform the tracks live before and audience of hundreds at a special, celebratory closing gig.

Presented by Music Generation Carlow and facilitated by the musicians and industry experts at Wall2Wall Music, ‘Carlow Young Creatives’ is a new initiative that gives young people ages 13 to 18 a chance to explore the worlds of composition, performance, sound engineering, technology, production and marketing.

The two-week programme of music-making kicked off on 1 August. Since then, the participants have been working alongside the professional musician team to develop their skills in collaboration with their peers, experimenting with rock and pop instruments and influences, as well as an array of musical genres such as traditional Irish and jazz.

The five new music videos have been released on YouTube – watch and share them below or online at Music Generation TV.

Blogger, journalist and broadcaster Niall Byrne (Nialler9) reports on the project online at Irish Times Culture. He speaks to Cheylene Murphy – one of the project facilitators and a member of the bands Wonder Villains and Beauty Sleep – about how this opportunity is helping the young musicians realise their rock’n’roll dreams.

You can also follow the fantastic work taking place each day in rehearsals and workshops online at the Carlow Young Creatives Blog, or hear from the young musicians themselves on Snapchat:
